Lindsay H. Jones of the Denver Post reports that when Broncos boss John Elway asked if Manning would be the type of quarterback he was during his MVP seasons, Manning didn?t blink.

?There is no doubt in my mind,? Manning replied.

Manning also told Jones he?s confident that it?s completely safe for him to play after four neck procedures put him out for the entire 2011 season, and that if the doctors hadn?t cleared him he would have walked away from football before putting his long-term health on the line.

?If the doctors said, ?Hey, you shouldn?t go out there,? that?s it. That?s the end of it,? Manning said. ?That?s a short conversation. I?ve kind of asked them to say that. It?s just not the case.?

According to Manning, it?s not just his own doctor who thinks he?s going to be perfectly fine to play football for years to come. He said he was checked out by doctors from the Broncos, Titans and 49ers and that all three team doctors gave him the go-ahead.

?That?s what they tell me. The nice thing is that the doctors of three different teams have told me essentially the same thing,? Manning said.

There aren?t many 36-year-old athletes who can miss a full year of action because of a serious injury and return to perform as well as ever. But there?s no doubt in Manning?s mind that he?s the man to do it.

Casey Anthony may not be out of the legal woods just yet.

Her civil defense attorney is doing everything he can to make sure a defamation lawsuit against his client won’t go to trial, and today, a judge will hear the lawyer argue for the dismissal of the lawsuit brought against Anthony by Zenaida Gonzalez.

The 25-year-old might want to say a prayer this afternoon.

Gonzalez, a.k.a. Zanny the Nanny, is suing Anthony for defamation, claims that she was harassed and threatened after Anthony came up with a bogus nanny named Zenaida Gonzalez-Fernandez who she accused of kidnapping her daughter Caylee.

Gonzalez's attorneys will ask that Casey Anthony's video diaries be ordered into evidence in the case. Anthony has been keeping the video journal, which were leaked mysteriously this winter, since her July acquittal on murder charges.

What relevance the diary has is unclear, but it appears below:

Anthony was cleared of all charges related to her child's death, but was convicted on four counts of lying to law enforcement. She was sentenced to four years.

However, with credit for the time she served before and during her murder trial, she was released from jail less than two weeks after her acquittal July 17.

She is currently in hiding, but serving probation for check fraud, somewhere in her native Florida. Anthony will most likely not be present in court today.

TOULOUSE, France (AP) ? The French interior minister says the suspect a killing spree has died after jumping from his apartment window after police stormed his apartment following a 32 hour standoff.

Claude Gueant says the suspect, who claims links to al-Qaida, jumped after police entered the apartment and found him holed up in the bathroom. Police and the suspect exchanged fire before Mohamed Merah died.

Gueant says two policemen were injured.
