Make your business card fridge magnets unique | Advertising Help ...

Last week was refreshing and fulfilling because I happened to learn about the utility value of business card fridge magnets. The term was easier to understand, but it never came to my thoughts to replace the paper business cards with business card refrigerator magnets.? I actually got bonded to this thought of extending magnetic business cards after reading the blog by a local businessman ? Mark Stephanopoulos.? Throughout his blog there were references about how this wonder card helped him to establish right contacts with the people. Here is how he described the whole experience of dealing with these cards -

Visible ? Visible

Yeah, they are everywhere. I am happy that many of my clients have proudly displayed my identity over their refrigerator door. It is a good sign because refrigerator is an essential home appliance, which mobilizes the traffic within a home. Any xyz magnet affixed on its stand higher chances of getting noticed whenever people open and close the fridge for fetching some food items, vegetables, drinks, and so on.

I will never leave your side

This heading seemed strange, but it was worth reading. The reason cited for choosing this title is because the writer himself could feel that investing in a magnetic business card is a best thing that ever happened to him. He added that regular business cards are dumped or pushed to the back of the cupboard or crumpled because people find them annoying. Magnetic cards have a special charm and people will not think of throwing them out for various reasons. Therefore, you can make a wise investment by opting for a magnetic business card which offers 24 / 7/ 365 day promotion to your business. Also, it remains affixed to a place for long time period. That was pretty convincing reason what he gave to his choices.

Ease to Make-up
Mark noted that these magnetic fridge business cards were easy to be dressed. Oops! The meaning is they can be customized easily according to specific requirements and needs. One can opt to add their favorite photos, recipes, logos, business contact data, calendar or any other business information. Color, layout, size, images and other parameters of such custom promotional magnet can be easily managed. Mark says even a business card can make you a designer because you can create a one easily without much dependence on any additional graphical tools.

So, taking cue from Marks? experience and combined experience of some other friends, I would like to conclude that the next time, when you think of promoting your business to mass, select business card fridge magnets because it is one of the perfect low-cost business advertising tools of the modern times!

Evolution of birds is result of a drastic change in how dinosaurs developed

ScienceDaily (May 30, 2012) ? Researchers from Harvard University, The University of Texas at Austin and elsewhere have found evidence that the evolution of birds is the result of a drastic change in how dinosaurs developed. Scientists have long understood that modern birds descended from dinosaurs. Rather than take years to reach sexual maturity, as many dinosaurs did, birds sped up the clock -- some species take as little as 12 weeks to mature -- allowing them to retain the physical characteristics of baby dinosaurs.

The results of the study appeared May 27 in an online edition of the journal Nature.

"What is interesting about this research is the way it illustrates evolution as a developmental phenomenon," said Arkhat Abzhanov, associate professor at Harvard and study co-author. "By changing the developmental biology in early species, nature has produced the modern bird -- an entirely new creature -- and one that, with approximately 10,000 species, is today the most successful group of land vertebrates on the planet."

While it's clear simply from looking at the skulls of dinosaurs and modern birds that the two creatures are vastly different -- dinosaurs have distinctively long snouts and mouths bristling with teeth, while birds have proportionally larger eyes and brains -- it was the realization that skulls of modern birds and juvenile dinosaurs show a surprising degree of similarity that sparked the study.

"No one had told the big story of the evolution of the bird head before," said Bhart-Anjan Bhullar, a Harvard PhD student and first author of the study. "There had been a number of smaller studies that focused on particular points of the anatomy, but no one had looked at the entire picture. What's interesting is that when you do that, you see the origins of the features that make the bird head special lie deep in the history of the evolution of Archosaurs, a group of animals that were the dominant, meat-eating animals for millions of years."

To tackle the problem, the researchers turned to an unusual methodology. Using CT scanners at Harvard and The University of Texas at Austin, they scanned dozens of skulls, ranging from modern birds to theropods -- the dinosaurs most closely related to birds -- to early dinosaur species. By marking various "landmarks" -- such as the orbits, cranial cavity and other bones in the skull -- on each scan, researchers were able to track how the skull changed shape over millions of years.

Tim Rowe is a director of The University of Texas High-Resolution X-Ray Scanning Facility, where some of the scans were performed, and study co-author.

"We examined skulls from the entire lineage that gave rise to modern birds," Abzhanov said. "We looked back approximately 250 million years, to the Archosaurs, the group which gave rise to crocodiles and alligators as well as modern birds. Our goal was to look at these skulls to see how they changed, and try to understand what actually happened during the evolution of the bird skull."

What the researchers found was surprising -- while early dinosaurs, even those closely related to modern birds, undergo vast morphological changes as they mature, the skulls of juvenile and adult birds remain remarkably similar.

In the case of modern birds, Abzhanov said, the change is the result of a process known as progenesis, which causes an animal to reach sexual maturity earlier. Unlike their dinosaurian ancestors, modern birds take dramatically less time -- just 12 weeks in some species -- to reach maturity, allowing birds to retain the characteristics of their juvenile ancestors into adulthood.

Ultimately, Abzhanov said, the way the bird skull evolved -- through changes in the developmental timeline -- highlights the diversity of evolutionary strategies that have been used over millions of years.

"That you can have such dramatic success simply by changing the relative timing of events in a creature's development is remarkable," he said. "We now understand the relationship between birds and dinosaurs that much better, and we can say that, when we look at birds, we are actually looking at juvenile dinosaurs."

"It shows that there's so much for evolution to act upon," Bhullar agreed. "When we think of an organism, especially a complex organism, we often think of it as a static entity, but to really study something you have to look at its whole existence, and understand that one portion of its life can be parceled out and made into the entire lifespan of a new, and in this case, radically successful organism."

Other institutions participating in the study include Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain; New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of the New York Institute of Technology; and the American Museum of Natural History.

Olympic stalwart Don Anthony has died, aged 83 ? Sports ...

The Telegraph. London 2012. Full interactive guide to all the events at the 2012 Olympic Games

Tribute by Philip Barker
Don Anthony, a finalist in the hammer at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and in recent times a stalwart member of the Sports Journalists? Association, has died after a long illness. He was 83.

Don Anthony, having collected one of many awards in his distinguished career as administrator and historian of Olympic sport

Born in November 1928, Anthony had an accomplished sporting career. After winning the AAA hammer title in 1953, he twice represented England in what was then the British Empire and Commonwealth Games, in 1954 and 1958, as well as finishing 12th at the Melbourne Games.

Dr Don Anthony made his mark as an administrator, educator and sporting pioneer.

It was in the midst of his hammer career, while on National Service in Cyprus in 1955, that Anthony first played the game of volleyball and, on his return home to a job as an assistant lecturer at Manchester University that he established a governing body for the sport in this country ? the beginnings of a lifelong mission which will see some fulfillment in a few weeks? time with British teams competing at the London Olympic Games.

He represented volleyball on the national Olympic committee for many years and to this day, Volleyball England?s Hall of Fame bears his name.

As a young man, he was one of the first British students to visit what is now the German Sports University in Cologne. He taught at Loughborough and many other institutions and his last academic assignment was as Visiting Professor of the University of the Eastern Mediterranean.

His work outside the formal classroom was just as important. He travelled the world to promote peace and Olympism through UNESCO and Olympic Solidarity. He was a familiar face at the International Olympic Academy in Greece and oversaw the establishment of Britain?s own National Olympic Academy in 1982.

He became great friends with Philip Noel-Baker, a fellow Olympian who won the Nobel Peace Prize. They shared the same ideals, and Anthony was the natural choice as Noel-Baker?s biographer. The book was appropriately entitled Man of Sport, Man of Peace.

As a journalist, Anthony was a regular contributor to World Sports Magazine and to the Olympic Review. He was responsible for uncovering much of Britain?s early Olympic heritage and also ensured that William Penny Brookes? Olympian Games in Much Wenlock received their rightful place in the history of the modern Games. In 1994, Anthonywelcomed Juan Antonio Samaranch to Much Wenlock to mark the centenary of the IOC.

More recently, Anthony worked closely with Baron Pierre de Coubertin?s great nephew, Antoine de Navacelle, in the establishment of the Coubertin awards which combined sport with the world of business ethics.

In 2007, Anthony received the IOC award for ?Sport and Promotion of Olympism.?

Last year, Anthony was made an MBE, when the Queen, patron of the BOA, herself performed the investiture.

Experts: Remedial college classes need fixing

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) ? Each year, an estimated 1.7 million U.S. college students are steered to remedial classes to catch them up and prepare them for regular coursework. But a growing body of research shows the courses are eating up time and money, often leading not to degrees but student loan hangovers.

The expense of remedial courses, which typically cost students the same as regular classes but don't fulfill degree requirements, run about $3 billion annually, according to new research by Complete College America, a Washington-based national nonprofit working to increase the number of students with a college degree.

The group says the classes are largely failing the nation's higher education system at a time when student-loan debt has become a presidential campaign issue. Meanwhile, lawmakers in at least two states have pushed through changes and numerous institutions are redesigning the courses.

"Simply putting (students) in three levels of remedial math is really taking their money and time with no hope of success," said Stan Jones, president of Complete College America.

The group's research shows just 1 in 10 remedial students graduate from community colleges within three years and a little more than a third complete bachelor's degrees in six years. Yet the classes are widespread, with more than 50 percent of students entering two-year colleges and nearly 20 percent of those entering four-year universities put in at least one remedial course, the report said.

"At the end of the day if we could say that we are getting more students to graduate, particularly those coming into college without the requisite skills, the investment we have now is worth it," said Bruce Vandal, director of postsecondary education for the Denver-based Education Commission of the States, a nonpartisan group that researches education policy. "I think the fact that we aren't getting that result is why legislators and policymakers are up in arms and rightfully so."

The research comes as the cost of a college education continues to grow. The College Board said last fall that the average in-state tuition and fees at four-year public colleges rose an additional $631, or about 8 percent, compared with a year ago. The annual cost of a full credit load has passed $8,000 ? an all-time high.

Legislation passed earlier this month in Kansas prohibits four-year universities from using state funds to provide remedial courses.

Beth Gulley, an associate English professor who teaches remedial writing at the 22,000-student Johnson County Community College in northeast Kansas, acknowledges the remediation statistics are "pretty dismal." But she noted it sometimes takes students longer to graduate than the span of time the statistics track.

"I think there is lots of hope," she said.

Take her assistant Brandon True, who dropped a remedial math class twice before completing it and College Algebra. Now 23, he is taking a calculus-heavy class for aspiring video game designers and preparing to transfer to a four-year institution.

"I was terrified," he recalled of his earlier math struggles. Because of those initial struggles problems, he feels like he truly understands the remedial writing students he helps. "I think they choke. It's scary."

Research shows placement exams routinely misplace students in remedial courses, and colleges would do so far less often if they also examined high school transcripts, said Davis Jenkins, a senior researcher at the Community College Research Center at Teachers College at Columbia University in New York.

True knows the limitations of placement exams firsthand. He went from being identified as needing remedial writing help the first time he took the test to qualifying for the gifted writing program the second time.

The classes are being rethought as well. Jenkins recommends doing away with the one-size-fits-all college algebra requirement and having math classes tailored to a few broad areas of study. For instance, those studying history, law or psychology might take a math class focused more on statistics.

"It just kills their desire for learning," Jenkins said, noting that some students are being placed in classes that make them basically redo middle school pre-algebra. "There really is a stigma, so it is clear that we need to rethink it."

The Complete College America report also says research shows half or more of remedial students would be better off being placed in required classes and having the schools building in extra help, such as tutors or more frequent class meetings.

The report said institutions that have used those approaches have seen their unprepared students succeed at the same rates as their college-ready peers. Legislation passed earlier this month in Connecticut allows underprepared students to take full-credit, college-level courses with built-in supports, such as extended instruction, extra tutoring and mandatory labs.

"We're failing these students if we don't change," said Democratic state Rep. Roberta Willis, co-chairwoman of Joint Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee in Connecticut.

Such an approach worked well for Jessica Grubb, 22, of the Round Rock, Texas, near Austin. After years of struggling, the Texas State University special education major knocked out her math requirement during a summer class that met from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. five days a week. She now works as a math tutor.

"This program has literally changed my life," she said, adding that figuring out a tip at a restaurant used to make her panic. "It gives people a second chance."

The Minimalist Lifestyle Guide to Happiness | Minimalist Living

A guide to happiness?

Do we really need a guide to be happy?

What is happiness?

Do you ever wonder how to find happiness or am I the only one?

I actually read
The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun

by Gretchen Rubin and rather enjoyed it.

She felt a bit stuck in her life and realized that there had to be more than just plodding through day after day.

Just a regular person with a fairly regular life.

And her prescription for happiness is quite straight forward.

I do recommend the book.

The various definitions of happiness all seem rather fuzzy to me.

What makes one person happy may not make another person happy.

Should we even be spending time and energy wondering how to be happy?

Why can?t it just happen damn it?!

Hell maybe it does and I don?t realize it! I am so caught up in thinking about happiness that I miss it.

Oh dear.

Anyway I digress.

What is interesting is that I have what most would call a very good life. And I do realize that so then I end up feeling guilty.

I want for nothing. I am healthy. My son is good(most of the time). I have an amazing girlfriend.

Shouldn?t that be enough?

I love my own version of minimalist living. I could do better at living a minimalist lifestyle, but I am a work in progress.

There were lots of amazing comments on the last post and it struck me on how many mentioned either happiness or contentment.

Are these two concepts the same or are they mutually exclusive of one anther?

Maybe what I need to realize is there is not any such thing as ?when I achieve x,y,z I will be happy?.

This is tricky to remember at times.

I do realize it from a ?stuff? point of view.

I need to remember it more from ?life in general? point of view.

I also need to make note of what does make me happy.

Here are some things that help me to feel happy and content.

  • laughing with my girlfriend
  • the ocean/the beach
  • my son
  • nature
  • music/dancing
  • seeing little kids laugh
  • the chipmunk that I feed in the driveway
  • blogging and blog comments
  • animals

I have at various times in my life felt a bit lost and a bit out of place. Like I do not fit in so this doesn?t help.

Add in a healthy dose of low self esteem and a giant freak head and you have a recipe for wondering about stuff.

That?s to make Tammy laugh.

Anyway.

I am not sure about the idea that happiness comes from within.

I mean I do get that and that happiness is a choice.

I do get to choose my attitude for the day.

Life is 10% what happens and 90% how we respond to it.

I just need to remember that and concentrate on the moments that actually help me to feel happy.

It would make me super happy if you would share your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks and have an awesome day.

If You Are Into The Old-fashioned Video Gaming Systems You Might ...

If you?re like most people, growing up you most likely had a Nintendo or or quite possibly one of the Super Nintendo is that came out later, and many folks still possess these game systems. There were plenty of people who wound up having both playing systems such as I did and you most likely still have the games from both systems in a box somewhere. Loads of men and women still like to play these types of games, the issue is the fact that the gaming systems can end up breaking, leaving people with just the games and no way to play them. Should you be one of the people that still have their game cartridges but the device to play them with no longer works you might want to obtain the SNES/NES FC Twin Video Game System. Regardless of whether you have cartridges for the original Nintendo gaming system, or if you?ve cartridges for the Super Nintendo gaming system, this console will play them. Similar to anything else in life the older devices didn?t have a permanent shelf life that could make them last forever, which is one of the reasons this device was produced to begin with. This product does provide two controllers that you are going to have the ability to use when playing your games, but you?re going to see that they are not the same as the original controllers were. If you do not like the new controllers that come with this product you are going to see that you can still use the old controls which you have, or you are able to probably find some on Ebay. I should mention that the Tengen NES games such as Gauntlet won?t end up working in this console, but it is going to play official Nintendo games. This is probably not something you?re going to have to worry about because the games you have are most likely games produced by Nintendo. If you end up pausing the game for some reason you need to remember that this will only last for about 5 minutes before the game will wind up freezing up on you and you?ll need to begin the game again. The majority of the reviews you?re going to find relating to this product really are good, obviously you?ll also find a few negative reviews relating to this as well. Actually from the 162 customer reviews you are going to find on Amazon much more than 100 of these people gave this a four or five star rating. A lot of you are most likely wondering what this item is selling for currently, and you could be happy to realize that it is only $42.00 if you decide to order this from Amazon. You?re also going to discover that this qualifies for Amazon?s Super Saver Shipping, which means you are not going to need to pay extra to be able to have the ship to your home. So if you still have your old Nintendo or maybe Super Nintendo games and would like to play them, you may discover that this item is a good option. learn more about chess rules or about play chess

How'll people be interested in the roleplay tab if the same roleplays are always there, mostly filled, while newer roleplays aren't there?

Affiliate advertising is most likely probably the most effective suggests today of conducting Net marketing for a web-based business. The affiliates produce a buzz for your online organization, and the merchandise are promoted to a huge number of World wide web users. This really is why an internet company must have an affiliate advertising and marketing program as component of its marketing approach.

To establish an affiliate advertising and marketing plan, the on-line businessman requires to accomplish two measures. First, he really should recruit as numerous affiliates as possible. The more affiliates, the far more marketing to the goods. Along with the extra advertising, the more sales. Second, the on the net businessman need to prepare promotional materials that must be sent towards the affiliates.

When each actions are accomplished, the businessman will find that his on line corporation may have an boost in product sales. Then, maybe, the on the web businessman will just go using the flow and focus on item quality and product shipping. Or maybe the on the internet businessman can still thrust his sales additional upwards. How can this be attainable?

All that an online businessman requirements to complete would be to develop and give incentives for his affiliates. Listed here are four recommendations for such incentives.

1. Incentives for selling X well worth of items inside a restricted time period -The online businessman can supply cash incentives for affiliates who are in a position to convert their referrals into product sales that reach a specific quantity, perhaps $1500, within a specific time frame, possibly inside one month. When affiliates are conscious of this kind of an incentive, they are going to most likely double their efforts in order that they?re able to satisfy the quota revenue within the specified time period.

2. Incentives for offering seasonal merchandise -The on the net businessman may also give incentives to affiliates who are able to offer seasonal products or goods which are provided only for the duration of specific intervals of the yr. The cash incentive will visit the affiliate who will offer the highest really worth of seasonal merchandise.

3. Incentives for marketing the very best really worth of solutions throughout slow months -All on the net providers experience gradual months. ALEXANDRIA, VA, May 25, 2012 A new study published in Spine shows that early treatment by a physical therapist for low back pain (LBP), as compared to delayed treatment, was associated with reduced risk of subsequent healthcare utilization and lower overall healthcare costs.

Using a national database of employer-sponsored health plans, researchers examined a sample of 32,070 patients who were newly consulting a primary care physician for low back pain. Patients were identified and categorized based on their use of physical therapist services within 90 days of the consultation. Those who were referred to a physical therapist early (within 14 days of the consultation) showed a reduced risk of subsequent healthcare utilization and experienced lower overall healthcare costs than did those patients with delayed treatment by a physical therapist (within 15-90 days of consultation).

During an 18-month follow-up period, researchers found that early treatment by a physical therapist was associated with reduced risk of subsequent surgery, injections, physician visits, opioid use, and advanced imaging, along with a corresponding reduction in overall LBP-related medical costs relative to delayed treatment by a physical therapist. Total healthcare costs for patients receiving early care from a physical therapist were an average of $2,736.23 lower.

According to the study's lead author, Julie M. Fritz, PT, PhD, ATC, associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Utah and clinical outcomes research scientist at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City, "The value of referring patients to physical therapy who are newly consulting primary care physicians for low back pain likely depends on the timing of the referral and how patients adhere to physical therapy guidelines that recommend maintaining and improving activity levels." She added, "Despite the fact that primary care practice guidelines generally recommend delaying referral to a physical therapist for several weeks, we found that about half the patients receiving treatment from a physical therapist did so within two weeks, which is a practice that may be justified by emerging evidence."

Fritz explained that one possible reason for the link between early care by a physical therapist and positive outcomes may be that physical therapists can contribute to promoting a greater sense of self-reliance in managing LBP and confidence in a positive outcome. "If a physical therapist's treatment assists in developing self-efficacy, it is reasonable to expect it would have greater impact when implemented very early, before negative expectations have become reinforced and entrenched." Fritz added that early care administered by a physical therapist may offer an alternative to management strategies that can foster a sense of dependency in the patient, such as use of MRI or opioids.

The study found that patients using a PPO plan were more likely to receive early treatment from a physical therapist (53.4%) as compared with those using an HMO plan (44.7%). Also, the highest rates of physical therapist utilization were found in the Northeast and West. Patients in the Midwest were more likely to seek early treatment from a physical therapist (58.7%).

An April 20 study in Spine also supports the benefits of early physical therapy for low back pain. In this study, researchers found that patients who received physical therapy early (within 30 days) after an episode of acute low back pain had a lower risk of subsequent medical service usage (surgery or epidural steroid injections) than patients who received physical therapy later. In this study, authors analyzed a national sample of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' physician outpatient billing claims.

Currently 47 states and the District of Columbia allow some form of direct access to physical therapists for treatment/intervention, although some states impose restrictions if patients have not been referred by a physician.

Scientists observe 'tragic experiment' of tsunami debris

Jeff Larson has seen just about everything wash up on the shores of Santa Cruz: bottles, toys, shotgun shells, busted surfboards and fishing floats that looked like they had bobbed across the Pacific.

When surging water driven by the magnitude 9.0 earthquake in Japan tore apart his city's harbor, he was there to scoop up the splintered docks and broken boats that were heaved onto the sand.

Now, more than a year after the catastrophe in Japan, Larson and fellow beachcombers up and down the West Coast are awaiting the flotsam that was set on a eastward course by the destructive surge of water.

Fishing floats, soccer balls, fuel tanks and crewless fishing vessels set adrift by the tsunami and pushed thousands of miles across the ocean by currents and winds are already arriving on American shores.

But this is not just driftwood. These fragments of people's lives are floating reminders of a great tragedy: The March 11, 2011, earthquake that unleashed tsunami waves over 100 feet high killed more than 16,000 people, obliterated coastal communities and swept millions of tons of material out to sea.

So as scientists track the debris, the government prepares for its arrival and expeditions sail to the middle of the ocean to meet it, Larson will patrol his adopted beach with a five-gallon bucket and a grab stick, the tsunami on his mind.

"I'll be looking for any signs of foreign material," the volunteer with beach cleanup group Save Our Shores said, "and reporting it to anyone who cares."

::

From Alaska to Northern California, beachcombers are reporting a growing influx of aerosol cans, fishing floats and plastic fuel cans swept from Japan.

There was a soccer ball with Japanese writing discovered in March on a remote Alaskan island and traced to a 16-year-old boy in Japan. In early April, the U.S. Coast Guard had to use explosives to sink a so-called ghost ship ? a 164-foot Japanese fishing vessel drifting through the Gulf of Alaska.

A corroded Harley-Davidson motorcycle packed in a container washed up on a Canadian island. The owner, located through the bike's license plate number, had lost three family members in the tsunami, Japanese media reported. Although currents along the California coast may deflect much of the debris back toward Hawaii, environmental groups as far south as San Diego are monitoring their shores just in case.

In all, more than 200 bottles, cans, buoys and floats have been reported to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. None of the debris is considered radioactive since it was dragged to sea before the nuclear disaster.

But the agency has verified just a few traceable items as tsunami debris. Much of the rest, officials say, is items so commonplace they can't be distinguished from the flotsam that makes landfall every day.

"We have debris washing up on the shore all the time from Japan, China and other places and they probably have ours," says Nir Barnea, West Coast coordinator of NOAA's marine debris program.

Others say the U.S. government is downplaying the size and significance of the approaching debris.

"Unfortunately 99.999% of debris doesn't come with a label," retired Seattle oceanographer Curtis Ebbesmeyer said. "Lawyers want something with a street number or a boat name on it. Flotsam isn't like that, so basically you can't positively track anything back to Japan."

Ebbesmeyer, who compiles reports from West Coast beachcombers on his blog, has tallied at least 500 foam and plastic floats and fuel cans that have shown up from Japan since October. He said that's roughly 167 times the normal rate.

"They all started arriving at once from Kodiak, Alaska, to Northern California, and that's very indicative of a disaster," he said.

Ebbesmeyer expects the amount of debris to increase dramatically this fall with the arrival of floating refrigerators, car wheels, bath toys and shoes ? items with a remarkable ability to float long distances.

With that possibility in mind, the state of Washington has distributed fliers with instructions on how to handle everything from canisters of insecticide to personal possessions.

(AP) ? An American drone fired two missiles at a bakery in northwest Pakistan Saturday and killed four suspected militants, officials said, as the U.S. pushed on with its drone campaign despite Pakistani demands to stop. This was the third such strike in the country in less than a week.

Drone attacks in Pakistani tribal areas where Afghan and other militants have found refuge are considered a key tactic by U.S. officials in the war against al-Qaida and its Taliban supporters. But many Pakistanis resent the strikes, which they consider an affront to their sovereignty.

Two Pakistani intelligence officials said the latest attack took place in Miran Shah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal region.

The officials said the victims were buying goods from a bakery when the missiles hit. Residents were still removing the debris, officials said. All of the dead were foreigners, but the officials did not have any information on their identities or nationalities.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. The U.S. rarely talks publicly about the covert CIA-run drone program in Pakistan.

Drone strikes have become an increasingly contentious issue between Washington and Pakistan. Pakistan's parliament has demanded the U.S. end all attacks on its territory.

Some figures within the Pakistani government and military are widely believed to have supported the attacks in the past. Washington-Islamabad security cooperation has declined as relations between the two countries have deteriorated, but many analysts believe there is still some support for the attacks on militants within Pakistan's senior ranks.

U.S. officials have said in private that the strikes are a vital anti-terror tool and have killed many senior al-Qaida and Taliban commanders.

On Thursday, a suspected U.S. drone killed 10 alleged militants in northwest Pakistan near the Afghan border.

The attack took place in a militant hideout in the North Waziristan tribal area. Most of those killed were believed to be Uzbek insurgents.

On Wednesday four suspected militants were killed in the village of Datta Khel Kalai in North Waziristan.

The ongoing strikes have complicated negotiations between Islamabad and Washington about reopening supply routes for NATO troops in Afghanistan.

Pakistan closed the routes six months ago in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers along the Afghan border. The Americans say the attacks were an accident.

Etan Patz Case: Pedro Hernandez Arrested For Murder

Pedro Hernandez confessed to murdering Etan Patz yesterday, meaning that after more than three decades, the famous missing persons case may be over.

Hernandez, a former corner store worker, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder after he confessed to strangling 6-year-old Patz in 1979.

"He was remorseful, and I think the detectives thought it was a feeling of relief on his part," New York police Commissioner Ray Kelly told the media.

Incredibly, today, May 25 marks the 33rd anniversary of the disappearance of Etan Patz, who became the nation's first "milk carton child."

The case sparked the movement to raise awareness of missing kids.

Etan vanished on his way to a New York bus stop, triggering a massive manhunt, but no sign of the little boy had ever been detected.

The Etan Patz case returned to the headlines last month when authorities re-launched the search, tearing up the basement of a nearby building.

Kelly said a recent tip led investigators to Hernandez, 51, a Maple Shade, N.J., resident with a teenage daughter. The commissioner said:

"In the years following Etan's disappearance, Hernandez had told his family that he had 'done a bad thing' and killed a child in New York."

On Wednesday night, Hernandez was questioned in New Jersey and then voluntarily returned with detectives to New York, says Kelly.

"He brought them to the scene of the crime, which is now a store that sells eye glasses," says the commissioner.

"Hernandez described to the detectives how he lured young Etan from the school bus stop at West Broadway and Prince Street with the promise of a soda."

"He then led him into the basement of the (store), choked him there, and disposed of the body by putting it into a plastic bag, and placing it into the trash."

At the time, Hernandez was a 19-year-old stock clerk in the business and lived in an apartment nearby, says Kelly.

Kelly said investigators arrested Hernandez based on "the fact that he had told his story in the past, and the specificity of what he said in the confession."

Hopefully, as horrible as this is, the family can finally have closure.
