Notebooks
Notebooks are also referred to as Laptop computers. Notebooks are portable computers that people can carry with them. Notebooks come with a keyboard, screen, and a trackpad which functions as a mouse. A notebook can perform all of the same functions as a desktop computer. They have a long battery life which allows them to operate without requiring a power outlet. Advancements in technology now allow notebooks to perform at very fast speeds. As well, they contain multiple USB ports allowing users to connect such devices as a mouse, flash drives, etc. You can even connect them to TV sets. There are ethernet networking jacks that allows notebooks to connect to an office network or home DSL/Cable Internet connection or an office network. You can also get notebooks with built-in CD/DVD drives.
Netbooks
Netbooks are very lightweight, weighing less than 3 pounds, and their screens are 12 inches or less. They are leaner than notebooks and do not normally have a CD or DVD drive. Because their processors make them more power efficient they run fewer programs simultaneously. They have a longer battery life, lasting up to twelve hours without a charge. Netbook computers are smaller, cheaper, and less powerful than notebooks. They normally have smaller keyboards than notebooks. In addition, a lot of netbooks use solid state drives which makes them a good choice for portable computers as they are very resistant to impact.
However, they do not have the capacity of conventional hard drives. Many netbooks have less disk space than notebooks which does not make them a good choice if you have a large amount of content to manage. In terms of price, you can find netbooks as low as $300. However, their capabilities are limited compared to notebooks. Many netbooks use an open source operating system called Linux which helps them lower the price. Processor intensive tasks such as playing games and image editing are not as good with a Netbook.
Netbooks are a good choice if you want an ultra-portable and ultra-cheap laptop to use for surfing the internet and checking your email. Also they are very lightweight to carry around which makes them a good choice if you are on-the-go a lot. If you have vision problems, you may want to consider a notebook which has a large screen. In addition, if you want a higher and faster performing computer you can do more with, you should consider a notebook. When buying a new computer, there are a lot of details that are important to know. When you understand the technology and the differences between the Netbook and notebook, you will be able to get the right computer that meets your needs.
