2:15 PM: Cleveland Browns coach Rod Chudzinski said about QB Brian Hoyer, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury Thursday night: "He's such a positive guy. He's a guy you just don't doubt him. He's already overcome a number of obstacles."

2:00 PM: John Mara, the nephew of New York Giants owner John Mara, had his assault charges dismissed Friday after Fairfield, Connecticut police admitted they arrested the wrong man. Mara was arrested for allegedly hitting a man in the head with a bottle at a New Year's Eve party.

1:45 PM: Fired Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker said he had been receiving a lot of hate mail & racial mail in the past few weeks: "There are all sorts of references to Barack Obama .... They don't like the idea of blacks in authority."

1:30 PM: Major League Baseball released a statement in response to Alex Rodriguez's lawsuit: "This lawsuit is a clear violation of the confidentiality provisions of our drug program, and it is nothing more than a desperate attempt to circumvent the Collective Bargaining Agreement."

12:45 PM: The Buffalo Bills reportedly cut punter Shawn Powell after Cleveland Browns punt returner Travis Benjamin set a new team record with 179 return yards in Thursday's game.

12:30 PM: Reuters reports New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is suing Major League Baseball & Bud Selig over their investigation into his alleged steroid use. Rodriguez accuses MLB & Selig of "improperly gathering evidence to destroy his reputation and career".

12:15 PM: Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer has a partial ACL tear in his right knee. Hoyer suffered the injury during Thursday night's game against the Buffalo Bills.

12:00 PM: Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd has been suspended for two games by the NBA after pleading guilty to DUI charges.

11:45 AM: The Cincinnati Reds have fired manager Dusty Baker, who still has a year remaining on his contract.

11:30 AM: The Oregon Supreme Court disbarred Tualatin lawyer W. Scott Phinney after learning that he stole $32,000 from the Yale Alumni Association of Oregon while serving as its treasurer.

10:45 AM: KWCH reports that Fort Hays State University (Kansas) basketball player Dwayne Brunson was arrested last month on charges of battery, obstruction of justice & disorderly conduct. Brunson was the leading scorer for the Tigers last season.
