Providence, RI-Eastern Connecticut defeated Little East Conference rival Rhode Island College, 11-0 (six innings), in game seven at the Providence Regional of the 2011 NCAA Div. III Softball Championship played at RIC's Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex.

The Warriors (32-4) will face the winner of St. Joseph's (ME) and Coast Guard (4 p.m.) on Saturday, May 14 (2 p.m.). The Anchorwomen (34-12) will face Endicott tomorrow morning (10 a.m.) in an elimination game.

Sophomore third baseman Arielle Cooper (Mystic, CT) and senior designated hitter Rachel Soychak (Mahopac, CT) followed with back-to-back RBI singles. Freshman left fielder Stephanie Johnson (Plantsville, CT) brought in an additional run on a fielder's choice and a costly error on sophomore first baseman Kelly Paterson's (Southington, CT) grounder to, which cost the Anchorwomen two more runs.

Rathbun picked up her second RBI of the day in the sixth as the Warriors put two aboard to start the frame and she delivered a hard liner to left field to bring in Godwin. Cooper lofted a single over shortstop to bring in Alicea. Junior outfielder Rosie Manzo (Hudson, MA) picked up a two-run single and junior second baseman Christine Yeomans (Durham, CT) ended the scoring in the fifth with an RBI single to right field to stake the Warriors to an 11-0 lead.

Berard took the loss (14-6), allowing nine runs, four of which were earned, on 11 hits in five innings.
